How To Become A Christian
REALIZE that you are sinful and realize the Christ died for your sins on the cross.
“As it is written, there is none righteous, no not one.” (Romans 3:10)
“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
The Bible tells us that every person has a fundamental flaw in their nature that accounts for why making wrong choices comes so easily.... and so often. It calls this flaw "sin". (Sin means "to miss the mark" of God's requirements)
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23)
Sin in our lives causes a separation to exist between us and God, and unless something happens to change that, we face the prospect of dying without God.
“But God commended His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
Knowing the absolute worse about us, God sent Jesus to pay the penalty for our sins in order that we might be free to receive His gift of forgiveness and eternal life.
REPENT of your sin and turn from your sin to Christ. “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” (Acts 3:19) NIV “I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus.” (Acts 3:16) NIV
RECEIVE Christ as your personal Savior. “But as many as received him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.” (John 1:12) “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
If you desire to do these things, then you can receive Jesus Christ into your life by faith right now. The following prayer might help you express you thoughts to the Lord:
“Lord Jesus, I admit my sinfulness and thank You for dying for me on the cross. I ask You to forgive me of my sins. I now place my faith in You as my Lord and Savior. Come into my life and change me to be what You desire.”
If you have placed your faith in Christ and received Him as your Savior then you are now a child of God. Colossians 1:13 indicated that you have now been delivered from the power of darkness and have been translated in to the kingdom of God’s dear Son.
