Missions
Missions at Hanover Community Church are any endeavor aimed toward the goal of reaching beyond the needs of the local congregation for the purpose of fulfilling the Great Commission – by proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ, making disciples and relating to the whole need of mankind, both spiritual and physical.
The purpose of our missions program is to glorify God and present His character and nature by effectively proclaiming the message of salvation in Jesus Christ throughout the world in order that lost sinners might accept Christ as their personal Savior and become faithful disciples and active participants in a sound local church with a similar mission purpose.
“Then Jesus came unto them and said, all authority in heaven and on earth has been given unto me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
“Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.” (Mark 16:15)
"Then he said to his disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."(Matthew 9:37-38)
"I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest." (John 4:35)
The Missions Team is always considering new members. We meet on the third Thursday of each month at 6:30pm. If any members of the church have interest in serving you may contact Pastor Scott Brown or the church office.
There are always areas to serve in Missions without being a member of the Missions team. We conduct a World Harvest Festival each Fall and have projects throughout the year requiring volunteers willing to serve in various ways. If anyone has any questions or interest in serving through Missions please contact the church office.
Dedicated Giving to Missions
Hanover Community Church is firmly committed to reach the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. We specifically and prayerfully targeted the parts of the world that do not presently receive the gospel message. Our goal is to commit 70 % of our mission's budget to unreached people groups and 30% to domestic missions. We believe this fulfills the Lord's command in Acts 1:8 to reach the end of the earth with the gospel.
Realizing that there is a mission to be accomplished and not much time to do it, we believe every Christian should pray about what God would have you do regarding giving to missions. Currently, 8% of our church budget is committed to missionary support in addition to administrative mission's costs (e.g., banquets). We are inviting you to pray about and consider what God would have you do (above the regular church commitment) to help God's servants on the mission field. One hundred percent of your dedicated giving would support and encourage our current missionaries; that is, no amount would be deducted for "administrative costs." In II Corinthians 8 and 9, the Macedonian church decided in advance what to give-prayerfully and cheerfully. In II Corinthians 8:2, Paul describes this church as giving generously out of their own poverty.
We realize that there are many who have never given to missions, so we want to encourage you to exercise faith and take part in fulfilling the great commission through dedicated planned giving. Since missions are near to the heart of God, we can attest to the great joys and future heavenly rewards for those who invest in planned financial giving. Thank you for prayerfully considering what God would have you to do to help accomplish the great commission.
In His Service,
Pastor Scott and the HCC Missions Team
