Visitation Ministry
"Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.'
"Then the righteous will answer Him, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' The King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.'" (Matthew 24:34-40)
The Visitation Ministry is an outreach to shut-ins, the elderly, and the sick of our congregation. These people are members who are no longer able to attend church because of age or disability. We also make visits to people who are in the hospital. We walk alongside Pastor Scott and assist him in this worthwhile and rewarding ministry.
The Visitation Team usually visits each of these people once a month in their homes. Occasionally, we host some of the people (those who are able to leave their homes) in our homes to celebrate significant birthday landmarks (such as a 90th) or take them on special outings. For example, we have taken people to lunch at a tea house and were able to help friends, who don't get to see each other at all, spend time together. Some of the team members bring fresh fruits from their gardens or homemade items when they visit. At Christmas, each of the people (or couples) receive a visit from a team member and a gift bag, which include a card from Hanover Community Church and other items, including homemade goodies such as cakes, muffins, candy.
We encourage anyone who feels the leading of the Holy Spirit to join us in this fulfilling ministry. If you know someone who would like to receive a visit from the Visitation Team or if you would like to join the team, please contact Kathryn Battista.
